![]() ![]() ![]() I am not about to go out and spend a stack of money on this wall when I don't own the property. The amount of investment to do a peel and stick for this small area is $30. If there is ever another leak or moisture problem the entire wall will have to be torn out and fixed by the owners of the property anyway. Peel and stick seems like the best solution since it's easy to take away if I need to. I want to put something attractive that I can easily wipe down. There is no sheetrock there what you see is beige paint underneath a layer of yellow paint. This caused some minor swelling to the plaster and made the paint crack and peel. ![]() It's flooded and came down through the wall. The woman above us turned her sink on and then went to her bedroom and went to sleep and forgot about it. Yes the moisture problem was over 20 years ago and it was not a burst pipe. For the most part the wall is level except for in those two areas A third option would be to scrim coat the wall to a perfectly level surface before applying the tiles. My other idea was to screw acrylic sheets directly onto the wall and then attach the peel and stick. However I am concerned that the moisture and humidity in this poorly designed Tiny Kitchen will cause the Luan to swell. I had first thought of attaching a luan to the wall applying a coat of primer and then applying the peel and stick tiles directly on that. If I were intending on staying here for the rest of my life I would never even consider this. The whole point of using a peel and stick mosaic tile is that it is a cheap temporary fix how to make a functional backsplash and visual appeal. It has been this way for nearly 20 years. Eventually the plaster swelled and cracked. I don't know what they did but I'm guessing they put a patch on the wall of some kind. About 20 years ago the kitchen above us flooded and the water came down through this wall. A concrete building with plaster over concrete walls. This is a high-rise in New York city that is over 50 years old. ![]()
